Online eye test receives capital to conquer Europe

As the eyewear market is moving online, the need for adequate and fast online eye testing grows, especially to cater the young and the busy. The lack of a high-quality online eye-testing tool has been an obstacle for both ecommerce and healthcare.

Online eye test receives capital to conquer Europe

To solve this problem, easee has developed a proprietary platform in close cooperation with UMC Utrecht and in line with the requirements of the European Commission. The easee test is the world’s first CE certified online eye test. With easee’s new technology, customers will no longer have to squeeze inconvenient optician appointments in their already packed agenda’s. They can now test their eyes online and get a validated prescription for eyewear, from anywhere they want, at any time they like.

The young company’s research & development department uses data analytics and machine learning to improve its products and is preparing new techniques that will be released the coming year. The first steps towards European reach have also already been taken: as of last month, high-end eyewear brand Ace & Tate has started using easee’s intelligent prescription platform, making the ordering of new glasses easier than ever. The new capital will help easee to further develop its product and platform and to scale its commercial efforts.

Yves Prevoo, founder and CEO of easee: “Nimbus Ventures has experience with the challenges of scaling technology companies. We are confident that with their hands-on support we can further accelerate our growth. Our technology can improve access to eye testing for millions of people around the world. We are thrilled to take our company to the next level with Nimbus Ventures.”

Auke van den Hout, co-founder and partner of Nimbus Ventures: “Easee fits Nimbus Venture’s portfolio well because of its scaling opportunities. The company is ready to take its platform abroad and we are eager to accompany easee on this exciting journey.”
