Open Social provides innovative open-source online community software to organizations that want to bring their team together online. The platform enables them to collaborate in a digital co-working space, for instance, share and generate new knowledge or drive crowd-innovation. Founded in 2016, the Dutch-based company has built award-winning platforms for major international (non-profit) organizations including the United Nations and Greenpeace.
With a proven product-market fit in place and an excellent track record in its segment, it was time to further accelerate the business. Open Social was looking for seed investment to develop new technologies and boost its marketing & sales efforts. Nimbus Ventures had closely followed Open Social’s development from a start-up to a scale-up and the investor’s entrepreneurial approach was a good match with the company culture. Moreover, Nimbus offered valuable experience with market entry in the United States, one of the markets in which Open Social is eager to grow.
The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the decentralization of organizations worldwide. As a result, the demand for virtual communities and platforms has increased, as have concerns over privacy and data ownership. Open Social’s vision of an open web that inspires trusted connections and collaboration is therefore more relevant than ever.
The seed investment will enable the company’s highly qualified and dedicated team to seize the new opportunities this offers and grow to become a dominant player in the industry.
