A clear new vision on eye testing

In a market where everything from jeans to designer furniture is increasingly bought online, bespectacled consumers still have to visit an optician for their eyewear needs. Young Dutch scale-up easee aims to change all that with the world’s first CE-certified online test, which is reliable, fast and fun and can be taken from the comfort of your home. No waiting times, no appointments. All that’s required is a computer, a smartphone and 15 minutes of time. After the test, users can request an officially validated prescription, verified by an eye expert. The potential for this disruptive concept is immense, with the global eyewear market worth over USD 100bn. Which is why easee is joining forces with Nimbus Ventures to scale up their activities.

Glasses are fast becoming must-have fashion accessories, especially among young and busy consumers. The lack of a high-quality online eye-testing tool has been an obstacle for both ecommerce and healthcare. easee is trailblazing its way into this vast market with its certified solution, developed in close cooperation with UMC Utrecht and in line with the requirements of the European Commission. The company’s R&D department uses data analytics and machine learning to improve its products, paving the way for a global rollout that has the potential to permanently change the optical industry.

With the injection of growth capital by Nimbus Ventures, easee is able to further develop its innovative product and platform, and to scale its commercial efforts, especially towards eyewear brands and retailers.
